What is Forever Hardcore?
Forever Hardcore is a ruleset inside World of Warcraft: Forever — not a standalone shop SKU. You still play the same level-60 Classic+ Azeroth, with the Skyborne, new zones, and ongoing raids. The difference is the contract: one life, a closed social pool, and permanent consequences when you die.
Blizzard designed Forever with Hardcore in mind. The world is unfamiliar again — new elite packs, new dungeon routes, new ways to die — so a permadeath ruleset is more than a nostalgia server with extra graves.
When Hardcore arrives in Forever
Forever itself launches November 4, 2026. Hardcore is on the post-launch roadmap: after the December 9 raid unlock, then more dungeons, PvP, and world content, then Hardcore. Press coverage often says winter; treat day-one Normal, PvP, and RP as the live rulesets until Blizzard opens Hardcore.
This armory is ready before that date so death stats, Mak’Gora, and survival pages have a home the moment characters exist. Empty leaderboards here mean the ruleset is not ingesting data yet — not that Classic Hardcore numbers were copied over.
Death, transfers, and a closed ecosystem
Death is permanent on Forever Hardcore. The character cannot keep playing that ruleset. Dead characters can transfer out to other Forever rulesets (including PvP), so a run does not have to vanish from the account — it just leaves Hardcore.
- Grouping is fully closed. You cannot party across rulesets into Hardcore.
- Collections and Legacy progress can flow out of Hardcore; other rulesets do not flow in.
- The pool is its own economy and its own social graph, closer to a dedicated Hardcore cluster than to a flag on a shared realm.
Forever Hardcore vs Classic Hardcore
Classic Hardcore is vanilla on dedicated realms: one life, Mak’Gora, ghost tracking, and the survival census aotc.gg already publishes. Forever Hardcore uses the same permadeath fantasy on a different product — realmless Forever, new content, and a transfer-out hatch instead of a deleted-to-void ERA character.
If you play official vanilla HC today, stay on the Classic Hardcore armory for live deaths and realm population. Use this page for Forever’s ruleset: same layout (stats, Mak’Gora, recent deaths), different game.
Survival tracking on aotc.gg
Once character data exists, this version will show gear score, item level, Mak’Gora instead of honorable kills, ghost state on profiles, recent deaths on the home page, and class survival stats at Forever Hardcore stats. Population and compare use the same shell as every other version.
For the parent game — launch date, Skyborne, zones, and non-Hardcore rulesets — start at the Forever armory.
Frequently asked questions
- Is Forever Hardcore a separate game?
- No. It is a ruleset inside World of Warcraft: Forever. You need Forever access (WoW subscription or Game Time), then you choose the Hardcore ruleset when it opens.
- Does Forever Hardcore launch on November 4, 2026?
- No. Forever launches that day with Normal, PvP, and Roleplaying. Hardcore is a post-launch ruleset on the winter / later roadmap, after the first new raids.
- What happens when you die in Forever Hardcore?
- The character is done on Hardcore. Blizzard has said dead characters can transfer to other Forever rulesets, including PvP. Progress can flow out of Hardcore; it cannot flow in.
- How is this different from Classic Hardcore on aotc.gg?
- Classic Hardcore is vanilla on dedicated realms with live death and survival data today. Forever Hardcore is permadeath on Forever’s realmless Classic+ game. Rankings and stats are stored separately so the two ladders never mix.
- Will aotc.gg track Forever Hardcore deaths?
- Yes. This armory is set up for ghost tracking, recent deaths, Mak’Gora, and survival stats. Those surfaces stay empty until Battle.net character data for the ruleset is available.
